What makes your brain tick?
According to researchers, the parts of your body, if you don't use it you lose
it, particularly your brain. The more you use it, the more logic & brainier you
are. Could that be true?
Ask Yourself...
How old are you according to Kastenbaum's questionnaire?
Adapted from Kastenbaum, 1979
Chronological Age
My chronological age is my actual or
official age, dated from my time of birth.
My chronological age is
Biological Age
My biological age refers to the state of
my face and body. In other peoples' eyes, I look as though I am about
years of age. In my own eyes, I look like someone of about
years of age.
Subjective Age
My subjective age is indicated by how I
feel. Deep down inside, I really feel like a person of about
years of age.
Functional Age
My functional age, which is closely
related to my social age, refers to the kind of life I lead, what I am
able to do, the status I believe I have, whether I work, have dependent
children and live in my own home. My thoughts and interests are like those
of a person of about
years of age, and my position in society if like that of a person about years of age.

Few people, irrespective of their chronological age, describe themselves consistently (that is, they tend to give different responses to the different questionnaire items).
For example, people over 20 (including those in their 70's and 80's) usually describe themselves as feeling younger than their chronological ages.
We also generally consider ourselves to be too old.
